Welcome to the KwikMenu Test Drive

You should have received:
   * This ReadMe file
   * KwikMenu 1.0 Test Drive Package ("KM_TD.pkg")
   * KwikMenu Help package Package ("KM_Help.pkg")
   * New Meeting package Package ("Meeting.pkg")

Install the Test Drive, New Meeting and Help packages.  This version of
KwikMenu is fully functional, is Newton 1.x and 2.0 compatible, and will
run for 30 days.

The full version includes these additions:
    * A Newton 2.0 optimized version of KwikMenu (smaller/faster)
    * GestureLaunch Lite (1.x and 2.0) which can rapidly open your favorite
       programs.
    * DoPopupMenu (to allow unlimited scrolling menus in 1.x)
    * A Rotate command in the Action popup (for Newton 2.0 owners).


INSTALLATION
----------------------

Using the Newton Backup Utility or Newton Package Installer:

- Install the KwikMenu and New Meeting packages.  

- Install the KwikMenu Help package

Although you may install them on a memory card, we feel you will find KwikMenu so productive that you will want to install these packages in the internal memory of your Newton PDA.

GETTING STARTED
------------------

Tap the star that appears at the top of the screen after you install
KwikMenu.  This is a reminder to open the Configure screen.

¥ Configure KwikMenu
 1: Tap the KwikMenu icon in the Extras drawer. 
 2: Tap the Action (double arrows) button on the KwikMenu palette
     which appears onscreen.
3: Tap Configure.
4: Tap the checkboxes according to your preference.

You can access KwikMenu's menus in one of three ways:
    A) By tapping the appropriate button on the floating palette
    B)  By tapping the appropriate button on the status bar (use the first
          column of checkboxes to install the buttons you wish to appear)
    C)  By tapping under the built-in icons (use the second column of checkboxes 
          to define which spaces are active for KwikMenu)

When you have finished, tap the Update button in the lower right.

      Note-- The Install Buttons checkbox in the lower left provides a convient
      way to turn all the settings on or off.  This includes both the buttons on the
      status bar and the areas under the built-in icons.

¥ Add Meeting

1: Tap the Action (double arrow) button
2: Tap New Meeting
3: Use the presented dialog to enter a Meeting/ToDo/Day Note
4: Tap Add
(Another way to access this screen is to tap under the Newton's built-in
Dates icon.)

¥ Underline Text

1: Write some text in the Notepad
2: Select a word
3: Tap the Styles (artist's palette) button
4: Tap Underline
(Another way to access this menu is to tap under the Newton's built-in
Extras icon.)

¥ Cut/Paste

1: Write some text. Select it
2: Tap the Edit (scissors) button
3: Tap Cut #1
4: Tap to create a new insertion point
5: Tap the Edit button
6: Tap Paste #1
7: Tap Add
(Another way to access this menu is to tap under the Newton's built-in Undo
icon.)

¥ To create a KwikText Entry

	1: Select some text on the Notepad.
 2: Tap the Edit (pencil) button
	3: Tap Add KwikText
	4: Tap the Save button
	5: Tap the close (x) button to exit KwikText

¥ To access a KwikText Entry
	1: Tap the Notepad to create an insertion point
	2: Tap the pencil icon and choose a KwikText
	entry to output its text

There's lots more, like one tap restart (no more taking the battery cover off),
one tap connect to your computer, the "Numbers" menu with all your
personal strings (ie. address, phone, time & date stamp) and more.

COMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER APPS
----------------------------------

The only conflict you may encounter with KwikMenu is access via the buttons
on the Notepad's status bar and under the built-in icons.  There is only so
much room on the status bar, if you have lots of buttons, some may not be
visible.

The area below the built-in icons can only be used by one application. 
Thus if you are using the Quicknames Pro autosearch function which
works by highlighting text and then tapping below Names, you will not be
able to access the KwikText popup menu by tapping there. KwikText will
still be available from the floating palette or status bar button. There are
a number of shareware applications that use the space below the built-in
icons and will be incompatible with KwikMenu if it is configured to use the
same space. Typically only the application that was installed first will work.

COPYRIGHT AND DISTRIBUTION
-------------------------------

Feel free to distribute the Test Drive edition of KwikMenu. This is marked
"td". Please ensure that you distribute the entire Test Drive package
unaltered.

Remember that KwikMenu is a commercial product and is protected by strict
copyright laws. Any unauthorized reproduction or distribution of the full
version is breaking the law.
